SOCIAL WORK EDUCATORS’ PERCEPTIONS OF THE IMPORTANCE AND RELEVANCE OF ENVIRONMENTAL SOCIAL WORK

It is well known that the effects of climate change and especially environmental inequality are amplified for people who live in poverty or marginalised. Social workers internationally nationally therefore becoming duty-bound to engage with issue social work. This qualitative study used a descriptive design explore describe perceptions work educators importance relevance South Africa. Purposive sampling was sample six from different universities. Semi-structured interviews were incorporated obtain data, which thematically analysed. The results indicated perceived ESW as important relevant, ways integrating it into curriculum should be explored further.
